Swedish greeting words, with simple pronunciation for English speakers. Hej (say "HAY") means hello. Hejdå (say "HAY-doh") and Ha det bra (say "hah day BRAH") both mean goodbye, and Hejdå is the more common one. Tack (say "tack") means thanks, and Tack så mycket (say "tack soh MEW-ke") means thank you very much. Varsågod (say "VAR-sha-good") means you're welcome. God morgon (say "good MOR-on") means good morning, and God kväll (say "good KVELL") means good evening. Hur är det? (say "hoor AIR day") means how are you?, and a common reply is Bra, tack (say "BRAH, tack"), meaning fine, thanks. Three Swedish letters don't exist in English: å sounds like the 'o' in 'more', ä sounds like the 'e' in 'bed', and ö sounds like the 'u' in 'fur'.
