The ideas the Web security lab assumes: how a request and response work, what a URL’s parts are, what a cookie is, and the one that makes everything after it possible — the browser fills in the request, so the request is yours to change. About ten minutes.

Nothing appears on a web page by magic. Your browser sends a request — which page it wants and how — and the server sends back a response: a status, some headers, and the page itself. Everything the rest of this lab does is about reading those two messages closely and noticing what is in them.

A web page you see is the result of two messages: a request your browser sends, and a response the server sends back.
